Dat time of de year when I hate well well don come again oo! Yes, winter season don begin for Texas wey I dey live. Temprature don begin fall to around 33 degrees Farenheit (1.7 degrees Celcius). I remember de initial time when I come yankee, de cold for winter almost freeze me one day. I wear de wrong jacket to go skool. Na so I begin shake like leaf. My fingers come strong kakaraka like stone and na so my ear almost break comot. De more I dey breath, de more I dey feel like say I dey inside freezer.
People been dey tell me say make I no worry, say I go dey used to am. I don dey here for almost seven years, and I go tell you say I neva still dey used to winter. To me, ee dey like say every year de cold dey increase. Me and cold no get any business. Even when I been dey Naija, I been no like harmattan at all. I remember when I been visit Abuja for harmattan, na so I dey wear two sweater any time I wan comot for house.
You no fit compare harmattan cold with winter. De tin dey bite. Ee go bite ya finger, ya ear, ya nose and ya neck. No eva try to comot outside if you no cover all dis places. And de kind of winter cloth wey you wan wear dey very important too! You must close eye buy de best jacket if you no wan put ya sef for serious wahala. Nothing like "make I buy cheap winter coat to save money".
For ya house, no eva miss to pay ya electric bill. If you no get light to work ya heater, ee go dey like say na for inside cold room wey you dey live. Everytin go cold for ya house, ya chair, ya bed, all ya dress. And den to baff na anoda mata, lol! For here electricity na serious mata. No wonder dem no dey joke at all when ee come to steady power supply.
Yesterday my car begin give me problem. So I get to go bus stop to enter bus. I swear na one tin I no dey eva look forward to. To stand dia until bus come no dey funny at all. No be person tell me before I go fix my car quick quick after work. I no get strength for winter and public transport.
Dis one no mean say I like summer oo, infact de tin dey as extreme as winter for Texas wey I dey. But I prefer summer heat. At least I fit enjoy my AC or wear light cloth or baff cold wata to cool off. To wear all dis heavy dress and dey wrap my sef like newspaper for winter no dey easy. I no like am at all at all.
Winter just start, and I get to endure am for de next 4 months or more. To drive no even dey funny at all. Person get to check weather forcast everyday to see weda ice dey for road. If ice dey for road, na im be say you go risk am to drive or enter public transport or you just jeje stay for house. Accident dey very high during winter. Na so you go dey see as people moto dey spin for road because of de ice.
As I dey complain for Texas, dos wey dey for northern part of yankee dey experience extreme winter. Dem own no get part two. For dia no be only cold wey dem dey battle. Na de amount of snow wey fit cover ya house, ya moto or ya office. Skools dey shutdown, businesses dey close. To go buy food sometimes na problem and price for electric dey usuall double.
Ya pipes for house fit freeze and burst sake of say de wata for de pipe don form ice block.....
