MARCHING BAND

Me I been attend navy nursery, navy primary and navy secondary skool. Wetin remain na to attend for "navy university", lol. But na for Uniport I for finish. Dat one no mean say I no try to go Nigerian Defence Academy. I try to buy de for but my mama no wan take ear hia any tin wey get to do with her pikin and souja work. Na so dat dream take end like dat.

I still remember all dos early morning assembly and marching wey we been dey do primary and secondary skool. Afta all de anouncement and oda gbogbotigbo wey dey take place, de drum boys go begin play and den each class go march go dem class. I remember as guys dey try come early so dat dem go follow for dos wey go play de marching drums. Na one of dos small tins wey dey make me wan reach skool very early. My favorite drum na de small one wey you go hang around ya waste and come play with dos two small sticks.

And den during interhouse sports, each house go wan shine pass de odas. To me na de sweetest part of de whole interhouse sports tin. I always know say na last or second to last be my postion for 400 and 800 meters, lol. And den I go console my sef with marching. My house dey always come first or second.

Den during children's day and 1st October, all de skools go compete for march past parade for Port-Harcourt civic center. With all de acrobatics, white gloves and shine shine uniforms, each skool go wan try to beat de oda skools.

Navy dey always dey for first three. Awa white uniform dey blind people eye as usual. Na only Airforce dey give us tough time. Marching na one of de tins wey I really enjoy for primary and secondary skool. I hope say dem still dey do march past for skools!

But for yankee, dem take de whole marching parade tin to anoda level. Marching band na very important part of skool life for here. From secondary to university. Some skools dey get like 100 to 200 members. De band get different different groups inside- de girls wey go dey do back flip, den de drummers, dos wey dey play flute, trumpet, tuba and oda instruments.

Before any football game (yes dat dem game wey dem dey call football, I no know why dem dey call am football and yet na mostly for hand dem dey hold de ball, lol), de marching band go perform. Most people dey attend de game just to see de band perform. Mostimes dem go play popular songs and den come do different formations for de field.

I dey really enjoy to watch dem perform. and dis guys dey practise like almost everyday. And I hear say to enter de band no dey easy at all. You no suppose fail any subject and you must attend every practise. And dem dey travel well well to attend different competitions.

For university, almost all of de members dey under scholarship. And so dem dey take am very serious. If you see dem dey perform, you go tink say de tin wey dem dey do dey easy. But na plenty hours dem don put inside to perfect wetin dem dey do.

De marching tournament be where you go really enjoy to watch marching bands. Each skool wan out shine de odas. And na so you go dey see formations wey go blow ya mind. De marching band tournament tin dey like one big carnival. I remember de one wey I attend one time, de way dem uniform and de instruments and de backflip blend together, ee just blow my mind.

Na sometin wey person no fit explain. Na sometin wey you need to see for ya sef to understand wetin I dey talk. I don upload one of de bands wey I watch dem play. Na one small secondary skool wey dey my area. Ee go give you idea of wetin marching band be like.
