Na just recent wey I notice say library na very important tin wey you go see for every town. No mata how small de town be for yankee, you go see police station, post office and city hall and den library. I been dey dis small town wey dem dey call Troup for Texas. Dis na town wey de population no reach one thousand people.
So I decide to enter de library to see wetin dey happen inside. Ee get books as usual, and den I see computer with internet wey get very fast speed. Dis na place wey dey like any village for naija. De whole inside full with books. Everytin dey well arranged and in order.
And as I Sidon dey browse de internet na, so I dey watch de kind people wey dey come inside to read or borrow books. Wetin I see na ordinary people. From mechanic to house wife to pikin, everybody come to enjoy de books for de place.
Dis one come make me dey wonda! When I been dey naija, I no fit remember de last time wey I go public library. For Port-Harcourt wey I been dey live, de library dey for "town" side. And ee dey far from my place. Who get time to go library to read? And how many town get dem own library for naija?
And dis library wey I dey tell you for dis small town, dey manage dem sef from donations wey de people and companies around de area dey give dem. No govment money wey dem dey get. And na dat one go let you know how people for hia dey come togeda to protect wetin wey be dem own. Dem no get time to dey wait for govment to come helep dem.
And I come notice say old people too dey come plenty for de library. You go tink say as pessin don dey old, to read book no go be sometin wey dem like to do. I see as dem dey collect 3 or 4 big books to go read for house. De place just dey very busy like say na important govment office.
I just wish say people for naija go see how important books be, and begin get interest to build library for town wey dem dey live. Dis na because say na de only to helep people wey no get chance to go normal skool to teach dem sef and de way to preserve de history for de place for generations wey dem neva born.
