Abeg oo, make you no call me bushman afta you finish to read dis post. No be my fault say I neva visit dentist office before until 23rd December. I neva see any reason to visit any dentist. I neva get any serious tooth ache before. And anytime I look for mirror when I dey brush my teeth, I dey feel say de tin dey clean.
Come to tink of am..., na who we you know for Naija wey dey regularly go dentist office for check up? Anybody wey I know wey don go see dentist, been go because im get problem with im teeth. Our usual way na "cure before prevention".
So when I come yankee, I notice de way dem dey take arrange dia health system. Every person must get insurance before you fit get beta health care service. And insurance get levels. Hospital fit reject you if you no get de kind insurance wey go cover ya type of sickness.
As I start my masters program, de kind insurance wey I get dey only useful for dat skool clinic. I no fit use am for hospital wey dey outside de skool. And tank God I been no get any serious sickness, I no know where I for get money for dat one.
So afta I come gradge and find work, I come get good insurance. Dis on na both health and dental insurance. De first two years wey I begin work, I no use any of dem. The third year, I come decide to do general check up, den I come discover say my sugar level and blood pressure don increase. Tank God I find out dis one on time, before ee turn to anoda tin.
So dis year I come decide to use my dental insurance for de first time. Instead of to dey pay dat money for nothing, I come decide to use am. I find dentist, den come choose date to visit am.
For December 23rd (my appointment date), I arrive de place. I fill out de forms wey de secretary give me, den come wait for de dentist.
Finally my turn for de dental work come reach. So dis nurse get to clean my mouth. She first do x-ray of my whole mouth. Den de next step na to do deep cleaning. She say I get plenty plaque for my mouth.
To start de cleaning, de dentist come numb (kill any feeling) my mouth. De guy inject every corner of my gum. De tin pain me no be small. Afta like 5 mins wey him finish to inject me, all my mouth just "die". I loose total control of my mouth. Den de babe (nurse) come begin dig inside my mouth. For de next two hours, de babe just dey dig inside my mouth like say she dey find gold.
Anytime when I need to spit, she go put this tin wey dey like straw. De tin go just suck out de spit like vacuum cleaner. Dat one take style surprise me. And den when piss come catch me and I wan tell her say I need to go piss, I discover say I no fit talk well. I just dey sound like pikin wey dey learn how to talk, lol.
So afta de whole tin, my mouth still dey heavy. But I no dey feel any pain. Den afta 3 hours, my mouth come back to life. And I still no feel any pain. Dis one surprise me. I been tink say afta you visit dentist, de pain go take some days before ee stop.
So from now on, I get to visit my dentist every 6 months. Now I know how de cleaning tin be, I go dey more relaxed as I go next time. I dey pay form, so I get to use wetin I pay for.
So wetin be ya dentist tory?!
