ANODA HALLOWEEN DEY COME!

De time don reach again wey people go dey dress like ghosts and zombie dey waka everywhere. Dis year, ee go happen for October 31. And for most supermarkets, dem don dey prepare. Na so you go see "halloween" sections where you go fit buy all de tins wey you need to celebrate dat day.

As person wey enter yankee new, de halloween tin no comot road for me. And when I tell people around me say we no dey celebrate halloween, na so dem go dey surprise (Yes oo, yankee people dey always surprise when dem see foreigner wey no dey celebrate any of dem holidays. Dem dey always tink say de whole world dey do every tin wey dem dey do for here, lol).

Na for dis holiday wey you go see as people dey decorate dem house like graveyard. I dey tell you, some go put tomb and cross for dem compound, with cobwebs and giant plastic spiders. Even sef inside some people house, ee go dey like say you enter witch house. Ee get one year wey my next door neighbor hang all dis cobweb and cross for her door. Dat tin been no dey funny to me at all!

Even de children too dey join for de celebration. Dat day, you see dem with dem costumes. some go dress like de super heroes wey dem like, odas go dress like witch or vampires with dem fake long teeth and red tin wey go resemble blood for dem mouth. Why dem dey let children join for dis kind tin tire me!

And den for evening, de children go begin waka from house to house to do wetin dem call "trick or treat". When dem knock for ya house, you suppose give dem candy. You go see as dem go hold dem small plastic bucket dey shout "treekle-tree". Dem knock my door one year like dat, I no get candy, so I give dem crackers wey I get.

Den de adults go get dem own halloween parties! Na for dis party wey you go come see dressing run! Any tin wey ya own kolomental tell you to wear, make you wear am. I neva attend any of dos dem halloween party, but de photos of de kind dress wey I dey see people wear no give me mouth to talk.

And for TV na so dem go dey show horror movies from morning to night. Na for yankee wey I come know say dem get very large population of people wey like horror movies. I say eh, horror movie industry for here na billion billion.

Den for some places dem get wetin dem dey call hunted houses. Dem design dis special house to make people fia when dem dey inside. Ee dey usually dey dark inside, with all dos cemetry tins and with "scary music" for de background. Dis hunted house tin na anoda billion dollar industry. Trust yankee people, dem fit turn anytin to money making venture.

But wetin come surprise for all dis halloween tin na say de tradition start with christians wey dey europe as far back as 16th century. De tin shock me when I discover dis one. De whole tin about halloween for me dey like one big ogbanje, mami wata,willi-willi and demons party join togeda. And to find out say na christians start de celebration dey me very confuse.
